Central Florida has more places to play than any other part of the state outside Tampa Bay. Kissimmee runs the biggest free court block in the region, Orange County keeps adding lighted courts, and a wave of air-conditioned indoor clubs has opened from Apopka down to Lake Nona. Here is where to play, whether you want free morning open play or a climate-controlled court in August.
Free and low-cost courts run by the cities and counties. Court counts come straight from the official parks pages. Where a site charges a drop-in fee, we say so.
16 free lighted outdoor courts at 717 N. Palm Avenue, the largest free block of courts in Central Florida. Players suggest bringing your own net.
10 free courts near historic downtown Winter Garden, first come first served, with city classes through the Jessie Brock Community Center.
8 lighted county-run outdoor courts at 10107 Flowers Avenue. Free to play, with permanent nets and lines. Summer hours run 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The City of Orlando's first public pickleball courts, at 1400 Gaston Foster Road. Free, lighted, permanent nets, and one of the busiest open-play spots in town.
6 free lighted courts at 2535 Cady Way, open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the week. The best late-night option on the north side.
6 free lighted dedicated courts with permanent nets, the main public hub in Seminole County.
6 free courts, open daily, a short drive from Groveview if the first lot is full.
6 lighted pickleball courts at 317 Delaware Avenue, run by the City of St. Cloud. The main free option in south Osceola County.
4 indoor county courts at 1751 Rhode Island Woods Circle. Adult play runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 to 10:45 a.m. Free with a fitness center membership, or $10 for the day.
4 lighted courts on the south side, reserved through the pro shop for an hourly fee.
Free outdoor courts at 1600 Lockwood Boulevard, first come first served. Weekday mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. are set aside for players 55 and older, so call 407-971-5575 before you drive over.
3 outdoor courts at 624 Bills Lane, plus a tennis court that splits into two more. Drop-in play runs weekday mornings 8 a.m. to noon for $3 a person, and courts rent for $5 an hour outside those times.
Indoor gym play at 4801 W Colonial Drive for ages 18 and up, Mondays 6 to 8 p.m. Free with a fitness center membership, or $10 for the day.

Central Florida summers are brutal, and the indoor scene has grown fast to match. These are the air-conditioned options.
10 indoor courts near Disney with a full restaurant, sports bar, self-serve tap wall, and arcade. Courts open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with a $9 drop-in during the early passholder block.
8 dedicated indoor courts at 474 S Hunt Club Boulevard with pro-grade lighting and sound baffling. Memberships start at $99 a month and include access to Picklr clubs nationwide.
6 fully air-conditioned indoor courts with cushioned surfaces, open 24 hours a day for members.
Dedicated pickleball courts at the national home of the USTA, with hourly reservations, DUPR-rated play, camps, and lessons.

Opening soon: a Diadem Pickleball Complex is going into the former JOANN space near Seminole Towne Center in Sanford, with 11 smart courts and two simulators. Memberships are capped at 275.

Oak Street Park in Kissimmee has 16 and Veterans Memorial Park in Winter Garden has 10, both larger than anything in Orlando proper. If numbers matter, drive.
Groveview Park and Lee P. Moore Park in Sanford each have 6, and Westmonte Recreation Center in Altamonte Springs has 3. Less crowded than the tourist corridor.
4 indoor courts at the Meadow Woods Recreation Center, which is the practical answer during a Central Florida summer afternoon.
Cady Way Park has 6 courts and sits on the Cady Way Trail. A good choice if you want the walk-and-play version of a morning.
Oak Street Park and Community Center in Kissimmee, with 16 courts. Veterans Memorial Park in Winter Garden has 10.
Meadow Woods Recreation Center has 4 indoor courts, which is the main public indoor option in the city.
Cady Way Park has 6 courts. Dover Shores Neighborhood Center in Orlando has another 6 nearby.
Sanford has Groveview Park and Lee P. Moore Park, each with 6 courts. Oviedo has courts at Riverside Park.
